Inca F-1 is the best variety if you want really big blooms, if you are growing it as a solitary plant just to judge this marigold's maximum potential... Don't pinch and you will be rewarded with the biggest bloom you have ever seen on an african marigold, but if you want to maximize the number of blooms pinch after the 3rd set of leaves.

I will be trying 'Sunspot marigold' and open pollinated dwarf variety of african marigold from T&M, it is claimed it has the same vigor like the F-1s... Lets see

Tahir i grow Inca every fall.i use to cut it in the mid to keep it dwarf.the blooms are the biggest & it blooms like crazy.One thing i use to plant rooted cuttings.Sunspots i have tried in past but can not match Inca series.

Sir what was the size of the sunspot blooms ? and height of the plant ?

The blooms are smaller than Inca.Plant hight is 1 ft but can be dwarf depending on the temps.
